Just a quick reminder that this Friday, January 27th, is the final woodwork class for this birdhouse project. Mentors should again meet at 9:00am and little buddies should arrive at 9:30am. We will complete and paint our birdhouses, finishing up by 11:30am at the latest. Don’t forget to dress in warm clothing!
Our next hike will be on Tuesday February 7th from 9:00am – 12:00pm. We will meet at the parking lot at the beginning of Ship Creek Road and hike around a beautiful inlet. We will try to, time permitting, proceed up to Lone Tree Point. Hope that you can make it!

On Wednesday January 25th we start our technical drawing class led by local artist Mickey Smeele. Classes will be held every Wednesday between 1:00pm and 2:30pm for the next four weeks at Choices School. These classes are open to every ability level and students are encouraged to come try their hand in the supportive environment at the school. Mickey will help students to develop their drawing skills and have a lot of fun! This class is free to Choices K-9 students. Hope to see you all there!

For all students who will be participating in January woodwork lessons tomorrow is the first day of class! If you have not yet taken attended a Choices woodwork class then please be at the shop ready to start by 9:30am. Mentors will meet at 9:00am to assign buddies and get the shop ready.
Please dress in very warm clothes as the shop is quite cold! Class will finish up at 11:30am. As we will have a full house tomorrow please confirm with Christine if you need a ride to or from the shop.
Suggested clothing:
toque, warm socks and shoes/boots, a sweater and warm jacket and gloves for break time.
Directions:
The shop is located at the end of Wallace St. on the left across from the community garden, please see the map below. Drive around the back to drop off students.
Science World will be hosting a community event on February 11th at the Athletic Hall and North Island College. Choices students are encouraged to attend. The K-9 group will be taking advantage of this opportunity. See the attached flyer for more details!

For students and parents wishing to join us on tomorrow morning’s hike we will be meeting in the parking space at the Roger Creek Nature Trail entrance sign on the Redford extension, just past the hospital. (Please note this is NOT the Roger Creek water park on Gertrude Street). The hike starts at 9:00am and wraps up at 12:00pm. Snacks will be provided. Please let Christine know if you need a ride back to the school following the hike.
Just a reminder for students who are currently learning to knit at Let’s Knit, we have class today from 1:30pm-2:45pm. For students who wish to complete a project we will do so in the next couple classes.

Woodwork mentors will continue preparing the birdhouse projects on Friday January 6th 9:00am-11:30am.
All other K-9 Activities will resume next week. The knitting group will pick up on Tuesday January 10th 1:30pm-2:45pm at Let’s Knit and the next hike will be Wednesday January 11th 9:00am-12:00pm. We will meet at the Roger Creek Nature Park Trail on the Redford extension at 8:50am. New hikers are welcome!

Reminder! Winter break is coming to a close. I hope that you have all had a chance to relax and refresh and are ready to start the new year on the right foot. Tomorrow Tuesday January 3rd Choices School is back in session. See you soon!
