Crayola December Calendar

Crayola has added more fun crafts, colouring pages, and lessons for December!

You can create art projects for everything from Chanukah to Guadelupe Day to Kwanzaa to Christmas, Boxing Day, and even New Year’s Eve! There are also projects and lesson ideas for Winter.

SFU’s Online Museum

The SFU Museum of Archaeology and Ethnology has created a virtual museum online.

‘A Journey into Time Immemorial’ is based on the story of Xá:ytem Longhouse in Mission, BC. It is an artistic and cultural interpretation of what life may have been like for First Nations people at the Xá:ytem Longhouse.

BookFLIX

Scholastic Education is offering free access to BookFLIX, a new online literact resource that pairs classic animated storybooks with read-along non-fiction e-books. Created for students from Kindergarten to Grade 3, each pair of books reinforces early reading skills and helps develop real-world knowledge and understanding.

The animated stories will really grab your child’s attention and the words are highlighted as they are read aloud. Choices has obtained free access to this program until December 16, 2009. Please review this resource and let Linda know if this is something we should get a subscription to.

Arts & Crafts with Jane

We are all fortunate enough to enjoy Arts & Crafts with Jane on Wednesdays at Choices, now she is offering classes from the comfort of her own home too!

Jane’s Crafting Caze offers kids programs for children aged 7 and up, a Mom’s Craft & Chat, a Group Drop-in, and Craft classes in your home.

Pro-D Day

Just a reminder that this Friday, November 27th is a Pro-D day for the school district.

You are welcome to take the day off or complete coursework. However, teachers will not be available to provide assistance.

FSA Exams

Attention all Grade 4 and 7 students:

FSA Exams will be taking place between mid-January and mid-February. The tests focus on literacy and numeracy skills, or English and Math. The format will be a mix of paper and online components.

Online access to practice tests is available starting today. If you are interested in obtaining access, please contact Linda and let her know.
